Design Patterns - introduction and NASA Case Study

Length:  4 hours (could be a part one and part 2 or could be condensed to 2 hrs.)

Abstract:

This tutorial uses our experience in applying design patterns to the rewrite of the command and control system for the Hubble Space Telescope to introduce and explain the topic of patterns.

Designing flexible, extensible and reusable objected-oriented software takes a great deal of expertise. Over the years, expert OO designers have discovered standard solutions to many recurring design problems. In this session you will learn what a design pattern is and how they are customized, extended, and composed in the development of commercial OO software.
